Maude & Payne grows a variety of heirloom flowers that are native to Arkansas for use in cut flower arrangements. Their emphasis is on supporting pollinators by growing heirloom varieties and practicing organic, sustainable farming methods.
Both mothers, southerners, and professors, Maxine Payne and Mary Ruth Marotte met and became fast friends in Conway, Arkansas over 14 years ago. Lovers of nature and the land, their dream of bringing natural beauty to local homes and businesses was made manifest in the creation of Maude & Payne.
Maude & Payne prides itself on a no-till garden design, nurturing the microbiome of everything beneficial to the soil by not disrupting it by adding composting material in thick layers to increase the nutrients and encourage life. With arborist’s wood chips, cut grass and leaf clippings decomposing over time they create the most amazing soil imaginable creating an amazingly fertile soil. This “compost tea” is an all-natural way they nourish the plants and offer the most breathtaking flowers imaginable.
When creating the Maude & Payne brand we were certain to encompassed the antiquity of the natural state, the heritage of heirloom traditions, and a touch of southern hospitality and nostalgia.
